Yair Elazar Glotman – Northern Gulfs

Glacial Movements – the italian label specializing in “ambient and electronic arctic soundscapes” – is one of those labels where the quality of the releases is so consistently in line with their original mission that they can almost be ordered blindly. Quality glacial music guaranteed!

Northern Gulfs“, the debut release of Yair Elazar Glotman, is no exception to that rule.

Pjusk – Tele

With previous releases by Rapoon, Lull, Skare, Bvdub, Loscil and Stormloop, the Glacialmovements label (founded by Alessandro Tedeschi) has become a sort of quality trademark in itself. A trademark for“glacial and isolationist ambient”.

PjuskTele, the label’s latest release, firmly establishes this reputation.

For non-norwegians, “Tele” may not have the right associations: it is the Norwegian wordt describing frozen underground water.

Tele is a journey of snow, ice and cold.”
…and the beauty within, I might add.

Loscil – Coast/Range/Arc

Although seemingly operating somewhat below the radar in terms of release frequency, Glacial  Movements  has earned their status when it comes to quality standards.
In the past, they released albums by Rapoon, Lull, BVDUB, Francisco Lopez (among others) – the future will see new releases by BVDUB. Pjusk and Thomas Köner.

Like the name suggests, Glacial  Movements chooses to release albums that thematically deal with vast, deserted (and mostly cold) landscapes:
“Places that man has forgotten…icy landscapes…fields of flowers covered eternally with ice… Icebergs colliding amongst themselves…” “Glacial Movements is a label born to describe and spread these thoughts/images through sound.”

Knowing this, it is no surprise that Glacial  Movements is the label to release Loscil’s latest release,  Coast/Range/Arc“. It is a perfect match.
