The central piece provides the title for this mix: Solace – “Comfort in sorrow, misfortune. Consolation.”
This Fovea Hex track literally breathes consolation in every single note, so it seemed a good starting point for this mix.
It is also one of the few tracks in the mix that are included in its full length.
Even though there are quite some dark moments in this mix, I hope it may bring some ‘solace’ – if needed.
(If not needed: even better…! It still can be nice to feel a bit melancholic for a while, can’t it?)
Around december 2007, I made a mix from Soccer Commitee’s music and music from Machinefabriek.
This mix is never published here before, because it was made for the dutch NPS-Folio radio show broadcast.
I don’t usually post the Folio broadcasts here, but it’s time to make an exception to that rule: a recent social media post about the beauty of Soccer Committee’s album sC made me decide it was time to dust off the 2007 mix and publish it again.
Because it’s still as powerful now as it was back then, almost 10 years ago.
And suddenly, without any warning, there’s good news from the ever-enigmaticAkira Rabelais:
His entire back-catalogue is now available on Bandcamp – which is good news because most of these title were unavailable for a long time now.
And at the same time a new album is released: The Little Glass (available in digital as well as in physical format).
A good opportunity to re-visit the 2006 Spelle Special Radio Show, featuring music from Spelle…, some remixes, ánd exclusive unreleased material especially submitted by Akira Rabelais for this occasion!
