Jeffrey Roden – Threads Of A Prayer, Volume 1

Jeffrey Roden’s contemporary classical music for solo piano and string ensemble leaves enough room for many moments of silence.

In this unhurried meditative focus, the link to the work of Arvo Pärt and possibly Erik Satie, Morton Feldman and, to lesser extent, John Cage is obvious.

It’s Jeffrey Roden’s sole purpose to take the listener to “the other place: a place within oneself where there is a deeper awareness of many things both emotional and spiritual.”

DreamScenes 2016-11

I guess it’s because of the dark season… Somewhat different from the usual DreamScenes selection, this edition contains five (!) vocal tracks, and some acoustic (guitar-)oriented tracks.
So it seems this edition is somewhat more ‘pop-oriented’.
Still, there’s this genuine ‘ambient’ feel… a ‘late night’ session, if you wish.

So: light up the candles, sit back and enjoy November’s DreamScenes selection.

Antonymes – Like Rumours of Hushed Thunder

Antonymes

Shortly after releasing his beautiful album The Licence to interpret Dreams” , Antonymes brings another sweet surprise.

To be honest – the REAL surprise was the extremely limited edition package as released on the Time Released Sound label, but you needn’t worry about that since this physical edition sold out within one hour. (Be sure to keep an eye on this label for future surprises!)

Luckily, the music from Like Rumours of Hushed Thunder is still offered as a digital download, and this is still a treat, even without the special packaging to hold.

Slow Dancing Society – Under the Sodium Lights

Slow Dancing Society is Washington based musician Drew Sullivan.
Under the Sodium Lightsis his fourth full album release for the Australian label Hidden Shoal Recordings.

Though the music on “Under the Sodium Light” can definitely be “filed under ambient”, it also has a ‘pop music’/’post-rock’ feel that may also appeal to listeners outside the ambient genre.

Peter Broderick – Music for a Sleeping Sculpture…

Peter Broderick

Earlier this weekend, the Belgian label Slaapwel (Sleep Well) presented their first labelnight in Leuven, Belgium.
To my regret, I was not able to be there – although I’m a big fan of Slaapwel’s sleep inducing catalogue.

And, looking at the venue for this special night (including breakfast) it must have been very special indeed:
