Flowers and Bones (Mix)

Flowers & Bone

“We were playing Hide and Seek on a Cemetery Hill…
…quiet hiding in the flowers…among the Flowers and Bones…”

Atmospheric drones slowly unfold into childhood memories …
Peaceful melancholic romanticism, but gradually overshadowed by fear of something out of control?
Remember: all’s well that ends well….

That last track is breathtaking. The whole record ‘Giya Kancheli: Themes from the songbook’ is really great, just like this mix.

  2. I love the mix. I think a commenter said best when they said it was not just a mix, it’s a composition. The flow from track to track is perfect. The mood varies but still remains consistent. an absolute work of art.

And there, smack in the middle of Peter Van Cootens mix Flowers & Bones, was this, the title track. Beautiful, haunting poetry in a beautiful, haunting musical setting. The result is haunting. And really beautiful.

Ah, new mixes from Peter Van Cooten and Headphone Commute downloaded and an unread book on the art of Swoon on the shelf. I’ll survive for another day.
